Mallory's Take

Desperate Measures was an opportunity I received to work with an equity stage manager on a community driven production. As ASM for this production I worked heavily on the scenic transitions. I lead multiple transition rehearsal and mapped each transition's movement so the cast could complete each shift quickly and safely. The set had one entrance/exit area therefore the set piece's movements needed to be very precise. I also learned and operated the confetti cannons for the show each night. At the beginning of each rehearsal and performance I facilitated fight and intimacy call. I was also weapons master as this was a classic western musical comedy with shotguns and pistols. We reviewed firearm safety each evening and I went through a safety test with the actors before the prop was used.
